FAQS

What is the ECO scheme?

Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government led Scheme whereby energy suppliers such as British Gas, EDF Energy, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE are obliged to fund households in energy efficacy measures.

Simply put…this means households may be eligible for free grants for loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation and boiler replacement or repair.

Remember energy efficiency improvements are all designed to help save people money on their energy bills, keep homes warmer and help to reduce carbon emissions. This scheme was recently extended until 2022, so do not delay and check your eligibility today. [Link]

Am I eligible?

Eligibility depends on what type of energy improvements the house requires, where you live, the eve los carbon or cost savings made, and if you receive any benefits.

Homeowners who receive Warm Home Discount, or certain types of benefits, you are likely to be eligible.

The ECO scheme, unlike previous schemes, includes those receiving Child Benefit and disability benefits. Check Eligibility to see if you qualify You may also be eligible for help with insulation or installing a gas boiler or heating system if you’re a social-housing tenant and in a home with an energy efficiency rating of E, F or G.

Do I need to be receiving certain benefits?

In order to qualify for a government boiler grant you will need to be in receipt of specific benefits (and possibly meet additional criteria). You can find all of the details about this on our

Are there any Hidden costs?

It is likely that you will be asked to contribute towards your new boiler, although in some cases the cost may be covered in full by the grant. This amount will be a lot less than what you would pay for a new boiler without an ECO grant and you could see energy savings of up to £300 a year.
